ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate and support the BHP Billiton Charter, the Code of Business Conduct and the Group Level Documents.
- Promote and support the overall health, safety and work environment by implementing and assisting in the enforcement of the requirements of the New Mexico Coal Health and Safety Programs.
- Maximize compliance with maintenance plans by confirming that all activities under the control of the Analysis and Improvement Department are carried out in accordance with maintenance planning processes and ensure that communication and coordination occurs between the analysis and improvement group and all other departments.
- Conduct proactive electrical and mechanical engineering maintenance activities and develop improvement plans to remedy issues identified during the maintenance improvement processes at the mine site.
- Ensure that environmental and safety aspects, and risks are considered in electrical and mechanical maintenance activities and that appropriate actions are taken in the event of an environmental event.
- Confirm that all maintenance contractors and service providers have completed relevant health, safety and environmental compliance training prior to the commencement of their duties.
- Perform other assignments as directed to meet business needs.
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, MSHA 30 CFR Part 77.103 certification, (or currently eligible to sit for the exam), and one to two years of maintenance engineering experience required.
- Strong familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting electrical equipment is necessary.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of MS Office Suite required; proficiency with AutoCAD and Solid Works desirable.
- Must be able to apply technical information from a variety of sources and demonstrate a proficiency in advanced mathematical skills, analysis and approaches to facilitate the decision making process.
- Must have excellent management skills including the ability to plan, organize and complete multiple, complex projects simultaneously within established time and budget constraints as well as the ability to successfully formulate strategies to resolve complicated issues.
- Must be aware of the hazards and risks involved in the mining environment and demonstrate a pattern of conduct consistent with the acceptance of responsibility for encouraging a safe work environment.
- Consistent history of satisfactory performance, including attendance, is mandatory.
